Network Refresh Project
During the Summer of 2009, the CSUSB campus network will be upgraded and improved as part of the CSU system-wide ITRP2 project. The ITRP2 project is funded by the CSU Chancellor's Office.
The ITRP Refresh Program is an effort to maintain baseline intra-campus IP networks through several means:
1) the replacement of aged network equipment in state-owned buildings;
2) the upgrade or addition of equipment and software to maintain currency with appropriate network technology advances and evolving user needs;
3) training for the principal network campus staff that support the campus networks;
4) maintenance coverage of core network devices.

At CSUSB, the RSW (Router/Switch/Wireless) segment of the ITRP2 project will begin in mid-July, and will last through mid-August. During that time, all "access-layer" data and voice switches in the State buildings on campus (except for the CE building) will be replaced with new Cisco switches. And of course, that means that every network and telephone connection in the State buildings (except CE) will be interrupted for short time periods, typically less than 4 hours. Redundancy analysis and fail-over testing may cause some slight interruptions in network and telephone services on Fridays (campus closed!) in early September.
Listed below are links to the installation schedule for the CSUSB main campus, and to a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the project. The entire PDC site will be affected on only one day: Friday, Aug. 14, 2009.
Please contact your departmental technical staff for more detailed information about how the ITRP2 project will affect you.
