Delegated Administrator
Delegated administrator is a web-based account management system. You can use it to update your personal information, change your password, forward your e-mail, set vacation, manage your list serve, subscribe or unsubscribe from list serves, and set mail filters. To log in to the delegated administrator open Internet Explorer or Netscape and go to:

NOTICE: Netscape 6 and later has a feature that may prevent you from visiting the Delegated Administrator web site. If your web browser complains that access to port has been disabled for security reasons, try using Internet Explorer. For more information read the Release Notes for your Netscape browser version.

Account information
How can I update my phone number or address?
- Click on "Personal Information".
- From here you can update your telephone number, fax number, cellular number, pager number, job title, mailing address, web page, or a description of yourself. To remove any of these delete the information completely.
- When you are done making changes click the "Save" button.
- The system will tell you it is about to modify your entry. Click the "Continue" button.
- Click on "Change Password".
- Type in your current password.
- Type in your new password in both "New Password" and "Retype New Password".
- Click the "Save" button.
- The system will tell you it is about to modify your entry. Click the "Continue" button.
Forwarding and vacation
How do I forward my e-mail? How do I disable forwarding?
Enabling Forwarding
- Click on "Forwarding Options".
- If you do not want to keep a copy of the messages locally remove the check-mark next to "POP3/IMAP4 Mailbox".
- Put a check-mark next to "Enable forwarding".
- Type in the address you want to forward to. If you have multiple addresses separate them by a new line.
- Click the "Save" button.
- The system will tell you it is about to modify your entry. Click the "Continue" button.
Disabling Forwarding
- Click on "Forwarding Options".
- If there is not a check mark next to "POP3/IMAP4 Mailbox" put one there.
- Remove the check-mark next to "Enable forwarding".
- Erase all of the forwarding addresses from the text box.
- Click the "Save" button.
- The system will tell you it is about to modify your entry. Click the "Continue" button.
How do I enable the vacation feature?
- Click on "Vacation Auto-Responder Rule".
- Select a start date. This cannot be a date before today.
- Select an end date.
- Select the interval in which to reply to repeat senders (the default is 7 days).
- Select the language (English is the default).
- Type in a subject for the vacation reply.
- An external sender is anyone who does not have a CSUSB e-mail account. Please type in the vacation reply you want to send to outside senders. If you do not put anything here nothing will be sent back to any outside senders.
- An internal sender is someone who does have a CSUSB e-mail account. Please type in the vacation reply you want to send to inside senders. If you do not put anything here nothing will be sent back to any internal senders.
- Put a check-mark next to "Enable Vacation Message".
- Click the "Save" button.
- The system will tell you it is about to modify your entry. Click the "Continue" button.
List serves
List management is in the "Manage Mail Lists" segment of the delegated administrator. Please refer to the List Server FAQs for more information.
How do I subscribe to or unsubscribe from a mail list?
List subscription is in the "My Mail Lists" segment of the delegated administrator. Please refer to the List Server FAQs for more information.
Filters
How do I block mail from spammers?
- Click on "Set Mail Filter".
- Click on the "Add..." button. This will open up another window.
- Select the "Spam Messages" mail filter.
- Type in a name for the filter (this name will appear in your filters list).
- Select the header you want the filter to look at. Most of the time you want "From" here. You may also select "To" or "Subject" as well.
- Now type in the appropriate filter based on the header you selected. For example, if you selected the "From" header and want to block any mail coming from joe@spammer.com you may want to put joe@spammer.com in the text box.
- Click the "OK" button.
- If the filter is correct a "Status OK" message will display. Click the "Clear Status" button. This will close the window.
- Your filter name will display in the list. When you are done click the "Save" button.
- If all filters are correct a "Status OK" message will display. Click the "Clear Status" button.
How do I block large messages?
- Click on "Set Mail Filter".
- Click on the "Add..." button. This will open up another window.
- Select the "Discard Large Messages" mail filter.
- Type in a name for the filter (this name will appear in your filters list).
- Type in the size of the largest message you want to receive (this includes attachments). For example, downloading any message larger than 2 megabytes can be time consuming from home, so I put the number 2 and select "Mbytes" from the pull-down menu.
- Click the "OK" button.
- If the filter is correct a "Status OK" message will display. Click the "Clear Status" button. This will close the window.
- Your filter name will display in the list. When you are done click the "Save" button.
- If all filters are correct a "Status OK" message will display. Click the "Clear Status" button.
How do I filter messages to my folders?
Please be sure you want to do this on the server before proceeding. Once the filter is set up you will only be able to access the folder from the web mail or an IMAP enabled mail program. If you are using POP you will not be able see any filtered messages in your mail program.
- Click on "Set Mail Filter".
- Click on the "Add..." button. This will open up another window.
- Select the "File To Folder" mail filter.
- Type in a name for the filter (this name will appear in your filters list).
- Select the header you want the filter to look at. The "From" header is the default. The "To" and "Subject" headers are available as well. The example in the next step requires that you select "To".
- Now type in the appropriate filter based on the header you selected. For example, if you selected the "From" header and want to filter mail coming to bb@csusb.edu you may want to put bb@csusb.edu in the text box.
- Finally type in the folder in which you want to send the messages.
- Click the "OK" button.
- If the filter is correct a "Status OK" message will display. Click the "Clear Status" button. This will close the window.
- Your filter name will display in the list. When you are done click the "Save" button.
- If all filters are correct a "Status OK" message will display. Click the "Clear Status" button.
How do I send a copy of messages from a sender to my colleague?
- Click on "Set Mail Filter".
- Click on the "Add..." button. This will open up another window.
- Select the "Redirect Messages" mail filter.
- Type in a name for the filter (this name will appear in your filters list).
- Select the header you want the filter to look at. Most of the time you want "From" here. You may also select "To" or "Subject" as well.
- Now type in the appropriate filter based on the header you selected. For example, if you want to send a copy of a newsletter you receive from news@your-field.edu to your assistant type this address next to "Contains the phrase".
- Finally give the e-mail address you want to forward the filtered messages to.
- Click the "OK" button.
- If the filter is correct a "Status OK" message will display. Click the "Clear Status" button. This will close the window.
- Your filter name will display in the list. When you are done click the "Save" button.
- If all filters are correct a "Status OK" message will display. Click the "Clear Status" button.
