Request a List Serve

A list server functions as a mailing list built around a core group of people interested in information on a particular topic. It is constructed so that any member can send mail to the whole group.

List servers are now available for classes. To request a list server, please e-mail Chad Cordero at ccordero@csusb.edu.

In your request, please state:

  1. What email address do you want for the list? This should be one word and not have any spaces in it (i.e. listname@csusb.edu).
  2. Who is the list owner? This must be a local user. You may give either the email address or the full name of owner.
  3. What is the purpose of the list? Please give a brief explanation of the list.
  4. Will the list be moderated? Who is the moderator? If the list is to be moderated, the moderator must be a local user. I can find the moderator by email address or full name.
  5. Will the list be open? An open list can be subscribed to by any local user. Otherwise, the list owner will need to subscribe them to the list.
  6. Do you want to show the members list? If so, any local user can see who is subscribed to the list.
  7. Do you want to hide the list? If you do not, any local user can find your list by searching.
