Itinerary

Day 1: We will be meeting promptly at 8:00 am at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center to load up the van and set off on a journey to Lassen Volcanic National Park. We will be driving about 10 hrs. with a couple of stops for meals and gas only to arrive at our campground at the beautiful summit lake surrounded by plentiful trees.

Day 2: Rise and shine! After breakfast we head off to Manzanita Lake with views of Lassen Peak, wildflowers, and possible bird sightings for an easy morning hike and some kayaking. Our day doesn't end there, after lunch we will take a moderate hike on Manzanita Creek trail through firs and pines with a rewarding view from a meadow of Eagle Peak, Vulcan’s Castle and Loomis Peak.

Day 3: Get ready to see what Lassen Volcanic National Park is most known for! We will depart early to get the spectacular views of what former volcanic activity has left behind. We will hike Bumpass Hell a geothermal area in Lassen with views of hot springs and fumaroles. Be careful it may get to hot so as a cool down from this hot spot we will hike to a roaring waterfall from Kings Creek Trail to see the beautiful greens found Lassen. If time allows we will also hike along West Sulphur Creek through forested areas to a scenic waterfall with wildflowers covering the hillsides, views of the surrounding peaks, and possible wildlife sightings of deer and birds.

Day 4:  Why go to Lassen without taking up a challenge! We rise early on day 4 for breakfast and to prepare to summit Lassen Peak! Lassen Peak is no ordinary mountain, this peak also known as Mount Lassen is a volcano and one of the largest lava domes on earth and has not erupted since 1917. Climbing to the top of this volcano will put you 2,000 ft above the surrounding terrain and 10,457 ft. above sea level!

Day 5: We will spend our morning breaking down camp and getting ready to head back to CSUSB.
