Feminist art collective Guerrilla Girls will speak at Cal State San Bernardino during “A Conversation with the Guerrilla Girls” on Thursday, April 13, 6-8 p.m. in the university’s Coussoulis Arena.
The event, organized by the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA) is held in conjunction with the exhibition “Not Ready to Make Nice: Guerrilla Girls in the Art World and Beyond”, currently on display. The group is known for its creative activism since the 1980s, bringing gender and inequality within the fine arts into focus within the greater community.
The Guerrilla Girls are a group of anonymous feminist activist artists who wear gorilla masks in public and use facts, humor and outrageous visuals to expose gender and ethnic bias, as well as corruption in politics, art, film, and pop culture. More than 55 people have been members over the years, some for weeks, some for decades. They have done more than 100 street projects, posters and stickers all over the world, including New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Mexico City, Istanbul, London, Bilbao, Rotterdam and Shanghai.
Guerrilla Girls Käthe Kollwitz, a founding member, and Shigeko Kubota will present a multi-media presentation exploring the Guerrilla Girls’ 30 years of championing feminism and social change in the art world and beyond. A meet-and-greet with the Guerrilla Girls will follow the talk, from 8-9 p.m. in the museum.

“Not Ready to Make Nice: Guerrilla Girls in the Art World and Beyond” is a major presentation of the feminist art collective that includes work from the last three decades. The exhibition is on display through May 20. “Not Ready to Make Nice: Guerrilla Girls in the Art World and Beyond” is curated by Neysa Page-Lieberman and organized and circulated by Columbia College Chicago.

The Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art is a nationally recognized museum accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, located on the campus of California State University, San Bernardino.
