Significance of military chiefs of Syria, Iran and Iraq meeting topic of interview with CSUSB professorPress TVMarch 20, 2019 David Yaghoubian, Cal State San Bernardino professor of history, was interviewed for a segment on a trilateral military summit involving Syria, Iran and Iraq, held in Damascus, Syria. Military chiefs from the three countries met with the aim of boosting joint efforts against Western-backed terrorist groups in the region. In the interview that begins roughly 3 minutes into the segment, Yaghoubian said, “I think it’s significance is an important restatement of basic facts in the context of international law for the international community to be aware of again … and to remind the United States, Israel -- and I’d specifically say Turkey currently occupying Idlib (a Syrian governorate, or province) – that the Syrian government is determined to maintain its sovereignty and to regain all of its territory that has either been occupied by foreign forces and/or occupied by foreign forces in conjunction with their takfiri proxies, which have sought to have sought to destabilize and essentially destroy Syria's territorial integrity.’” See the complete interview at “Iran's military chief discusses US withdrawal from Syria.”
