CSUSB’s online MPA program listed as one of top 50 in nation, according to Value Colleges

ValueColleges ranked Cal State San Bernardino’s online master of public administration program in its top 50 Best Value Online MPA Programs of 2016.

CSUSB’s MPA program was listed 28^th in the rankings. The top 50 MPA programs were rated using rankings in U.S. News & World Report, salary data according to College Scorecard and the cost per credit reported by each institution.

“This is a great recognition of the hard work, dedication and creativity of our faculty, who are among the most experienced experts in the field of public administration,” said Lawrence Rose, dean of the College of Business and Public Administration, which houses the MPA program.

All of the schools in the rankings are regionally accredited and most, including CSUSB, were accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration or NASPAA, which is the global standard in public service education. ValueColleges indicated that the schools on the list strike a balance between affordability and quality to ensure the best possible education for the investment.

Considered the educational center of the Inland Empire, CSUSB is responsible for educating the citizens of a rapidly changing area that is becoming more suburban and professional, and CSUSB is central to that change. As with many regional universities, San Bernardino is finding that job more manageable with online degree programs.

The university, which already fields a strong MPA program, moved to offering an online component to help meet the growing need for highly trained managers. While the university’s comprehensive exam must be taken on campus, all other coursework can be completed entirely online. Students can choose concentrations in cybersecurity, leadership or public financial management to tailor their degree to their interests or careers they’ve already begun.

Earlier this year, the CSUSB College of Business and Public Administration was named among the top MBA business schools by CEO Magazine in its annual Global MBA rankings, which profiled MBA, EMBA and online MBA programs around the world.
