The Black Faculty, Staff and Students Association at Cal State San Bernardino will host its 23rd Annual African American Graduation Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, June 11, at 4 p.m. in Coussoulis Arena.

The event is free to the public. Complimentary parking will be provided in Lots E and F.

This cultural celebration recognizes the achievements of CSUSB African American students, giving them the opportunity to invite an unlimited number of guests, with festive musical presentations and a keynote address. They also will receive a commemorative Kente cloth. About 100 graduates are expected to participate.

Kathryn Ervin, professor of theatre arts and president of the Black Faculty, Staff and Students Association, will be the master of ceremonies, while CSUSB President Tomás Morales will give welcome remarks. The keynote address will be presented by A. Rafik Mohamed, dean of the CSUSB College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

The student speaker will be Denisha Harris.

The Dare to Dream Arts Academy in Fontana will give a dance performance. Damarea Parker of the CSUSB Office of Student Engagement will sing the Black National Anthem and the CSUSB Air Force ROTC Color Guard will present the colors.

A photographer will be available for photos of graduates and their families. A reception will follow at the Legacy Fountain and is open to all graduates and their guests.
