The summer session at Cal State San Bernardino offers incentives to students to attend its “Summer Success” program.”

Students who normally attend only three quarters per year can now achieve their graduation goals faster by attending summer session 2016, too.

In the past, most students have opted out of summer session, viewing it as their break between academic years, or believing that summer tuition is not affordable.

However, CSUSB now offers four advantages for taking courses during summer:

  • A savings on tuition – the same great classes at a lower price when taking 4 or 8 units;
  • Additional financial aid – available to qualifying students;
  • Access to high-demand courses – for example, many general education courses – which were previously not offered during summer; and
  • Timely graduation – attending school during the summer can help students move faster toward their graduation goals.

“The summer session term is a great opportunity for students to take courses for their majors that may not have been accessible during the regular quarters,” said Juan Delgado, CSUSB’s Interim Provost for Academic Affairs. “For our students, it’s also a great time to concentrate on the subject matter of these courses while they achieve their academic goals at CSUSB. In addition, the summer term offers less crowded classrooms, more available parking, and two shorter 6-week sessions in addition to a 10-week session.”

Priority registration for summer session is May 9-25. Open registration is May 26- June 12. Summer session starts June 22 and runs through Sept 8.

The summer program will run multiple sessions as follows:

  • Regular session, 10-week: June 22-Sept. 6;
  • 6-week Session 1: June 22-Aug. 1; and
  • 6-week Session 2: Aug. 2-Sept. 8.

Tuition for resident and non-resident students will be:

  • Undergraduate students will pay $235/per unit, plus $212.95 in mandatory campus fees.
  • Those pursuing teaching credentials will pay $255/per unit, plus $212.95 in mandatory campus fees.
  • Post-baccalaureate/graduate student fees will be $275/per unit, plus $212.95 in mandatory campus fees.

Students visiting home for the summer from community colleges and other universities who are not currently admitted to a degree program at CSUSB may enroll in summer courses through the College of Extended Learning’s Open University, and take advantage of special summer 2016 lower tuition fees of $235 per unit.

Visiting students should check with their home institution to identify courses that will transfer back to their university’s degree program. Open University registration for summer classes starts May 26. Students who have met the prerequisites may register online.

Current Cal State San Bernardino students may register for courses online via MyCoyote. “Early Summer Starter” applications are available for new students who have been admitted for fall 2016 at CSUSB.
