Vice president of public policy for the Planned Parenthood Association of Utah and executive director of Planned Parenthood action council, Missy Bird, will speak to students at Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, April 7.
The presentation, “My Body, My Choice: Reproductive Justice and Policy Advocacy for All,” will be held at the university’s Santos Manuel Student Union theater, room 107, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Women’s Resource Center, the public is invited to attend the free discussion. Daily parking is $6 per vehicle.
As a reproductive health policy expert, Bird speaks on public advocacy for reproductive justice and wants to help women gain control of their bodies.
“I was born to light up the world and help women find their voice through leadership and empowerment,” said Bird.
Over the years, Bird has written and helped pass into law six pieces of legislation that aim to help disadvantaged homeless youth find shelter, and assist women and their families obtain unfettered access to reproductive health care.
Missy Bird, whose full name is Melissa, has a master’s in social work and is a Ph.D. candidate for social work at the University of Southern California.
