The John M. Pfau Library at Cal State San Bernardino will present an open house on Thursday, Feb. 25, from 1-4 p.m.
Organizers invite students, faculty and staff to visit various library locations during the open house to learn about the many services the library now offers.
The event will feature a “Passport Challenge,” where visitors are encouraged to visit as many displays and sites as possible with a prize drawing for those with completed passports. Those displays are:
- Check-out Desk (first floor) – check out books, DVDs and laptops;
- Research Assistance (first floor) – get personalized, professional help from our librarians for your research project;
- Interlibrary Loan (first floor) – find out how the ILL program can obtain a book or article from another source if it is not available at CSUSB;
- Innovation Lab (PL 1003) – Explore cutting edge technology featuring virtual reality, 3-D printing, electronics and 3-D scanning;
- Café au Lib (first floor) – the café offers on-the-go snacks, drinks, and quick salads for the hungry searcher of knowledge;
- Instructional Lab (PL 2005) – Come learn about the “Deep Web,” or try out one of the new video tutorials;
- Special Collections (PL 4005) – Visit a special photo viewing area to help identify people in photos from CSUSB’s photo archives. Visitors and alumni are encouraged to bring photos from their time at CSUSB, which may be scanned on site to add to the archives. Light refreshments will be served;
- Library Multimedia Center (PL 5005) – Visit the center to discover the various types of equipment that can be checked-out, including iPads, camera and video equipment. Enter the Hoopla Hula Hoop contest here; and
- Library Administration office (PL 2006) – The drop-off point for completed passports. To enter the drawing, pick up a passport when entering the library. As you visit each area, collect a stamp on the passport until it’s complete.
Turn in the completed, stamped passport in PL 2006 by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, and be entered to win an iPad Mini, a Coyote Bookstore gift card or a Starbucks gift card.
