Palm Desert Rotary Club will officially inaugurate the “Spirit of Rotary” Education Hall of Fame, honoring educators who are making a difference in the Coachella Valley, with a special celebration on Thursday, Nov. 5 at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus.

The ceremony, which begins at 8:30 a.m., will include the unveiling of a plaque that will honor Education Hall of Fame members annually. The 2015 inductees being honored include Rachel Druten, founder of Tools For Tomorrow; William Kroonen, past president of College of the Desert; and Jan Oliphant, co-founder of Cal State San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus, as well as two new inductees for 2016 who will be announced at the event.

“We are honored to partner with Cal State San Bernardino, Palm Desert Campus on this endeavor, which is in keeping with Rotary’s long-standing commitment to support education,” said Rotary Club President Phil Cracknell. “The Hall of Fame was conceived last year under the watch of my predecessor Meegan Sullivan, and I am pleased that we are continuing this tradition with the induction of two new honorees.”

The community is invited to this event, which will take place in the campus’s Indian Wells Center for Educational Excellence building lobby. A Hall of Fame “Spirit of Rotary” luncheon fundraiser is scheduled for March 29, 2016 at the JW Marriott Desert Springs.
