With the June Commencement ceremonies this past weekend marking the end of the academic year, Cal State San Bernardino has moved to its 4-day, 10-hour summer schedule.
Beginning on June 18, the campus will be open from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and will be closed on every Friday through Aug. 31. The campus will return to its 8-hour, five-day work schedule after Labor Day, Sept. 3.
The campus will also be closed for the Independence Day holiday, July 4 and 5.
Summer session will begin on Wednesday, June 20. The 10-week session will conclude on Sept. 7; the first six-week session will run from June 20 through July 31; and the second six-week session will take place from Aug. 1 to Sept. 7.
Classes for the 2018-19 academic year will begin on Sept. 20.
This is the 18th summer CSUSB has used the 4-10 schedule. The condensed workweek has helped the university reduce its energy consumption, while allowing the public more time to access university services during the expanded hours.
The university also has encouraged energy conservation measures such as turning off lights in unused rooms, reducing lighting in hallways and turning off computers and other electronic equipment that are not in use.
