The Cal State San Bernardino Career Center is the recipient of a new, low-speed vehicle, courtesy of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, a symbol of a partnership aimed at providing a career path in law enforcement for students and community residents.

The four-door vehicle was formally presented to the Career Center on May 19, along with a plaque given to university President Tomás D. Morales by sheriff’s Deputy Chief Rod Torres in recognition of the “Continued Partnership, Commitment to Student Career Placement and Service to the Community.”

The university and sheriff’s department has forged a working relationship that has resulted in career opportunities for CSUSB students as well as the area’s residents.

Along with the low-speed vehicle and plaque, highlights of that partnership include:

  • Two hiring day events by the sheriff’s department held on campus, with more than 700 applicants participating, including CSUSB students and alumni, as well as community residents;
  • Opportunities for students through the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Student Internship Program, including four students who have begun participating in an internship with the sheriff’s department’s Scientific Investigations Internship Program.
