Kimberly Shiner, the interim associate vice president for development at Cal State San Bernardino, has been selected by Leadership California to be a member of its prestigious 2017 California Issues & Trends Program.
The year-long program selects 60 women leaders from across the state and provides focused programming for the leaders, exposing them to critical public and private sector issues, and enhancing their competitive knowledge on California from state, national and global perspectives.
“It’s an honor to have been nominated and selected as one of 60 women leaders for the 2017 California Leadership cohort,” Shiner said. “I look forward to learning among my fellow colleagues about the critical issues facing California and how to apply solutions in public higher education.”
Shiner, who joined CSUSB in 2014 as director of development for the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration and later as the senior director of corporate and foundation relations, has spent almost two decades as a fundraising, public relations and community outreach professional. Prior to joining CSUSB, Shiner spent 13 years at the University of Southern California in various leadership positions during two historic fundraising campaigns for $2.2 billion and its current one for $6 billion.
Shiner, who earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in public administration from Cal State Northridge, is passionate about community, and remains active in charitable, mentoring and volunteer work. She serves on the board of the Bootstrap Scholarship Foundation and the Association for Fundraising Professionals Youth in Philanthropy committee.
The California Issues & Trends Program connects women leaders from across the state with each other and with top decision-makers, thought leaders and practitioners. It promotes creativity and innovation through the sharing of ideas and best practices.
The 1,500 CIT alumnae are empowered to contribute more fully to California’s vision for the future and to the communities and companies in which they live and work.
Leadership California began in 1992 with a dream to inspire, inform, and advance women leaders who would influence California’s future. It provides a critical pathway for successful women who care about advancement, achievement, and significance. These women are not only talking about change, but plan to be part of making it happen. Alumnae serve on nonprofit boards and are knowledgeable appointees for state boards and commissions.
