A group of Cal State San Bernardino student organizations are organizing an art workshop beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, aimed at being a “proactive, safe space of healing.”
The free “Dreaming Workshop: Together we can do anything” will take place in the university’s Visual Arts Building, room 303.
Some of the groups participating include CSUSB DREAMers Resource and Success Center, PDC Dreamers, The Coyote Pack, Milpas, and The TransCultural Commons Collective.
Community members are invited to create their own artistic pieces by repurposing pre-disposed materials collected from CSUSB art department. Concepts and topics for the art pieces should center on the experience of being an undocumented university student or an ally.
Free food will be provided, along with live music by the student-run group, Mass Productions. Also, there will be as an opportunity for finished art pieces to be published and reviewed by the Badlands Literary Journal.
A related event will take place in June: a gala to auction the pieces created during the workshop. To help publicize the needs of students at CSUSB, a wide array of distinguished guests will be invited. For more information about the gala, contact Ariana Cano at ariana.cano@csusb.edu or Luis Esparza luisesparza77@live.com.
