Cal State San Bernardino Santos Manuel Student Union has started off the New Year with a laptop lending program for students.
With the beginning of the winter quarter 2017, current CSUSB students with valid Coyote OneCards may checkout MacBook laptops at the SMSU information desk located across from the Coyote Market. Laptops come with chargers, cases and USB adapters that are available for use outside of the building.
Free printing will be available wirelessly in the SMSU Cross Cultural Center Go Print station in room 102.
Prior to borrowing a laptop for the first time, the borrower must sign a form accepting responsibility for the laptop and the fees associated with not returning it, or returning it late or damaged.
Laptops may be borrowed for a four-hour period and are only available to be renewed once for an additional four-hour period. Renewals must take place in person at the SMSU information desk.
If returned late, there will be a $10 per hour overage charge for a maximum of $480. After 48 hours, the laptop will be considered lost and a replacement fee will be charged. Lost, stolen or damaged replacement fees are as follows:
- up to $1,400 for laptops;
- $10 for USB adapters;
- $80 for power chargers; and
- $26 for laptop cases.
All laptops and accessories must be returned before the SMSU closes at the end of the day regardless of the amount of time left on the loan. Laptops are not available to be reserved in advance, and any documents saved on to the desktop will be erased every time the MacBook shuts down.
