Cal State San Bernardino was ranked No. 10 for having the best online programs in California, according to a recent ranking by Study.com.
“To make the top 10 for our online programs shows our commitment to high-quality education, whether done through the classroom or virtually,” said CSUSB President Tomas D. Morales. “We are honored to have our online programs recognized as one of the best in the state.”
According to an email that announced the ranking, Study.com “evaluated hundreds of schools for this list and selected California State University-San Bernardino based on academic and career resources for California students, the quality of education, and program accessibility, among other factors.”
To generate the ranking, which lists 25 schools, Study.com used data from the Department of Education and other reputable sources. The schools were also ranked based on the types of online degree programs they provide, the variety of subject matters covered, and how much academic support their distance learning students receive.
“Study.com’s school rankings always aim to present schools that are affordable, accessible and provide a high-quality education which we consider to be the most important attributes in our school rankings,” the Study.com website says.
In the ranking’s details, Study.com points out that CSUSB’s “online students have access to several of the same innovative and flexible graduate programs as the students on campus.” The ranking mentions CSUSB’s focus on areas related to education, law and business, specifically highlighting the university’s MBA program, which is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
“Its MBA … is a great way for professionals with at least two years of experience to upgrade their skills without needing to take the GRE or GMAT for admission,” the website says.
Study.com also points out CSUSB’s Master of Social Work program, which is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and offers a fieldwork aspect that can easily be done within the distance-learning students’ communities.
“It's important to note that distance-learning students at this school will be able to get online writing consultations through video chats to help them succeed in their studies,” the website says.
Fourteen other California State Universities made the list. Joining CSUSB is Cal State East Bay (No. 4), CSU Dominguez Hills (No. 5), Cal State Northridge (No. 6), San Diego State (No. 7), Chico State (No. 8), Cal State Fullerton (No. 9), Stanislaus State (No. 13), San Jose State (No. 14), Cal State San Marcos (No. 15), CSU Channel Islands (No. 17), Fresno State (No. 18), Sacramento State (No. 19), Cal State Long Beach (No. 20), and CSU Bakersfield (No. 23).
