The Division of Information Technology Services will host its annual ITS Tech Talks at Cal State San Bernardino on April 14.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure the health and safety of the community, the event will be hosted as a live webinar through Zoom at https://csusb.zoom.us/j/762880812 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Traditionally, ITS Tech Talks is an opportunity for faculty and staff to meet in-person to share and exchange ideas, explore emerging technologies, and experience hands-on demonstrations of various learning technologies offered by the university, said James Trotter, assistant director for Academic Technologies & Innovation (ATI).
This year ITS Tech Talks, now in its fourth year, will feature panel discussions and Just-in-Time instructional technology demonstrations to enhance student engagement and collaboration in an online teaching and learning environment.
“This is an unprecedented time for CSUSB. It is our goal with the ITS Tech Talks webinar to bring our faculty community together and have a discussion on the transition from in-person to a virtual teaching and learning environment,” Trotter said. “The audience for the ITS Tech Talks is faculty and staff. We have chosen the topics and panel to address the challenges facing our faculty community.”
CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales will give a virtual welcome. Following the president’s remarks will be the keynote address, “What is a Good Online Course,” given by Montgomery Van Wart, chair of the Education Leadership & Technology Department and a professor of public administration. Van Wart’s online course, Public Sector Human Resources, was the first CSUSB course to receive Quality Matters national certification as a fully accessible online course using state-of-the-art technology and methods.
