Following the success of her first memoir, “Two Heart Nuts to Crack!,” Mary Fong, Cal State San Bernardino communication studies professor, has released “A Beautiful Blueprint,” the second memoir in her “A Magnificent Mess!” trilogy.

“It feels amazing to finally complete my second memoir of a trilogy, which was a two-year process of data collection and daily intensive writing for 11 months,” said Fong, who discussed her first memoir earlier this year at CSUSB’s Conversations on Diversity series.

In describing her second memoir, Fong said the primary thrust is to discover answers to big life questions such as, “What is the purpose of life?” “What happens after we die?” and “What is the name of the game of life?”

“There is also a chapter on the Great Awakening of 2020 that we are experiencing now,” she said. “It’s a multi-media e-book that integrates two true life journeys on earth and in the afterlife, educational videos of researchers and practitioners in the metaphysics field, science, and intercultural communication studies, along with music from the 1960s-2016 that complement the storytelling.”

According to the memoir’s description, “If you already appreciate and trust authentic channelers’ knowledge and wisdom or if you have not yet experienced them or you’re still hobbling on the fence, this memoir gives you a good dose of credible mediumship.”

Fong – who teaches intercultural communication, ethnography of communication and spiritual communication – has also co-edited and co-authored the textbook, “Communicating Ethnic and Cultural Identity,” and has been published in a number of journals and other print sources.

 She has been recognized for her three research presentations on Top Paper panels in the Language and Social Interaction Division and the Intercultural and International Division at the National Communication Association (NCA) and Western States Communication Association (WSCA) conventions.

Fong is the former chair for the Spiritual Communication Division of NCA and is the former chair of the Asian Pacific American Communication Division (APAC) affiliated with NCA. She has also chaired the APAC Caucus of NCA and is the past president of the Association for Chinese Communication Studies of NCA.

 At CSUSB, Fong has served as the ethnic studies coordinator (2003-06) and teaching associate coordinator (2002-07). She has been a recipient of the University Diversity award and the university-wide Outstanding Advisor award.

Fong earned her doctorate from the University of Washington, her master’s from Cal State Long Beach, and her bachelor’s from the University of Southern California.
