Cal State San Bernardino has been named among the best universities in the country in three categories according to Washington Monthly’s annual College Guide and Rankings.
CSUSB was ranked third of 614 colleges and universities in the 2020 Master’s University Rankings, fifth of 215 colleges and universities in the 2020 Best Bang for the Buck Rankings: West and was listed as one of the Best Colleges for Student Voting.
“This is great news as it reaffirms our commitment to provide an exceptional and affordable education to our students,” said CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales. “It is also a recognition of the great work of our faculty and staff, who are dedicated to student success.”
According to their website, Washington Monthly “rank master’s universities—four-year institutions that award a significant number of master’s degrees but few or no doctoral degrees—based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and promoting public service.”
Along with CSUSB, these CSU campuses were listed in the Master’s University ranking: Stanislaus Los Angeles, Northridge, Sacramento, Chico, Long Beach, Bakersfield, Dominguez Hills, Monterey Bay, San Luis Obispo, Fullerton, Channel Islands, Humboldt, San Marcos, Pomona, San Jose, San Francisco, East Bay, Sonoma State.
The Best Bang for the Buck rankings lists colleges and universities on how well they help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. Over the past six years, Cal State San Bernardino has been consistently listed among the top colleges in Best Bang for the Buck Western Colleges listing. The social mobility portion of the national rankings doubled as the Best Bang for the Buck rankings.
