CSUSB professor leads team of researchers in publishing paper

A team led by Sanders A. McDougall, CSUSB professor of psychology, has published a paper in the academic journal titled, “Importance of dopaminergic neurotransmission for the RU 24969–induced locomotor activity of male and female rats during the preweanling period.”
Listed with McDougall were student researchers Nazaret R. Montejano, Ginny I. Park and Jasmine A. M. Robinson.
CSUSB professor interviewed about assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist

David Yaghoubian, CSUSB professor of history, was interviewed for a segment on the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, regarded as Iran’s top nuclear scientist. Fakhrizadeh was killed just outside of Tehran on Nov. 27.
“I believe that this was the truly pathetic act of frustrated authoritarians (U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman) who have not had any successes and again, all of who see their backs to the wall, and their one Hail Mary was to try to foment a kinetic exchange—an open war in the Persian Gulf with Iran—and the Iranian government is far too smart, and Iran is far too strong and has far too much dignity to react ignorantly to such a provocation,” Yaghoubian said. The interview begins about 4 minutes into the video.
“This is a desperate act by desperate individuals who can only resort to terrorism to try to derail further negotiations potentially with a Biden administration regarding how the United States is going to return itself immediately to the JCPOA,” Yaghoubian said, referring to the incoming administration of President-elect Joe Biden and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the multinational agreement regulating Iran’s nuclear program. Trump pulled the U.S. out of the agreement in May 2018, saying he wanted to renegotiate a stronger deal, and imposed economic sanctions on Iran to try to force it back to the negotiating table.

CSUSB music professor appointed to SB Symphony Orchestra board

The San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra recently welcomed seven new members, including Jessica Getman, assistant professor of music at Cal State San Bernardino, to its board of directors as part of a board expansion initiative.
Getman is a film musicologist, with emphasis in television studies and science fiction media. Her doctoral dissertation at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, was on music and social discourse in the original series of “Star Trek,” and she has published on George Gershwin, mid-20th-century television advertising, amateur music-making, music in science fiction and women composers in film.
The San Bernardino Symphony was founded in 1929, but did not formally establish a board until 1963 when John M. Pfau, founding president of Cal State San Bernardino, was the first to be elected president of the board, according to a news release. Current board president is Dean McVay, a partner with Lewis Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith LLP.
