The Department of History at Cal State San Bernardino will host its fall graduation celebration and its Phi Alpha Theta “Ritual of Induction” on Friday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m. via Zoom.

The event will include remarks from national Phi Alpha Theta President Jacob M. Blosser, who is also a professor of history and director of Graduate Study in History and Political Science at Texas Woman’s University.

CSUSB’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta is called Alpha Delta Nu. Phi Alpha Theta is a national honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history, whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians.

The CSUSB chapter has been awarded five Best Chapter Awards – including four consecutive awards from 2016-2019 – the national honor society’s top recognition.

Following the induction ceremony, the department will celebrate its graduating history majors, which will include a slideshow highlighting many of the fall graduates. Tiffany Jones, department chair, will give a graduation address.

The program was planned and organized by Michael Karp and Marc Robinson, both assistant professors of history.

Visit the Phi Alpha Theta and Graduation Ceremony registration page to register for the event.

Visit the History Club and Phi Alpha Theta webpage for more information about CSUSB’s Phi Alpha Theta chapter, which is combined with the History Club.
