CSUSB professor writes on ‘Developing the relationships we need in the pandemic’

Anthony Silard, associate professor of public administration, wrote that we need to understand the importance of social connection in crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
“So relationships not only matter, but are vital to our well-being. Not for what they enable materially, but for what they provide in terms of social, emotional, and psychological support. In crises, these relationships matter even more,” he wrote.”
“During this pandemic, then, it is imperative that we refine our social abilities to strengthen the relationships we need to survive and, just maybe, thrive.”

CSUSB professor discusses security measures for governor in response to threats from extremists

Brian Levin, director of Cal State San Bernardino’s Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism and an expert on fringe right-wing groups, was interviewed for a segment about threats made to Gov. Gavin Newsom and his family. State law enforcement authorities are taking the threats seriously.
Levin told KNX 1070 News that a review should be carried out of the Newsom family's safety.
"What needs to be done is some kind of re-assessment of the security measures we have not only for these public officials and their families at work because we are increasingly seeing families and residential picketing but also a re-assessment of when these officials are carrying out business," Levin said.
He said that might mean cutting down on their public events.
