Alexandra Thambi defines the future through academic excellence and community service

Alexandra Thambi, a junior biology STEM major at CSUSB, shares her experience as an exceptional student and active community member.

Resources such as the Pan African Student Success Center, the Career Center and faculty mentorship have all contributed greatly to her experience as a Coyote.

"The support I get is very loving and I know they are here to support me,” Thambi said. “It's challenging to get the grades I want, but I accept that challenge and I want to keep pushing no matter how many times I fail ..."

After conquering her impostor syndrome, Thambi continues to excel academically and stay involved with campus through her membership in the Pan African Student Success Center.

The Pan-African Center (PAC) is one of many resources CSUSB offers to promote and support academic excellence, cultural awareness, leadership development, personal development, proactive civic and community engagement, and civic engagement for people of the African Diaspora.

In celebration of Black History Month, Cal State San Bernardino will hold virtual events throughout the month of February to honor the culture, accomplishments, contributions and legacy of African Americans.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of the achievements and accomplishments made by African Americans within our local, national and global communities. It is a month dedicated to the recognition of individuals who have gone above and beyond and have been memorialized in United States History.

It is also a month focused on highlighting key pieces of the African American culture in an effort to provide education to future leaders destined to make an impact in the world.
