Cal State San Bernardino has been listed among the nation’s top universities  for its exceptional graduate programs according U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 edition of Best Graduate Schools.

Under the listing, CSUSB was recognized for its graduate programs in Public Affairs, 123 of 284 colleges and universities; Public Health, 158 of 188 colleges and universities; and part-time MBA, 182 of 273 colleges and universities.

“We are deeply honored to be named by U.S. News & World Report among the best graduate programs in the country,” said CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales. “This recognition underscores the hard work and commitment of our CSUSB faculty and staff to provide our students with the knowledge and training not only to succeed but to excel."

In the rankings, CSUSB was tied with 11 other institutions for public affairs, 15 others for public health, and 11 others for part-time MBA.

U.S. News & World Report’s graduate school ranking continues the recognition of among the nation’s top institutions of higher education. In September 2020, U.S. News & World Report listed CSUSB among the leading universities in the western United States in its 2021 rankings of the top U.S. colleges and universities.

CSUSB was listed as:

  • Best Regional Universities in the West, 40th;
  • Top Public Schools Regional Universities West, 18th;
  • Social Mobility Regional Universities West; 11th;
  • Best Value - Regional Universities West, 21st;  and
  • Best Undergraduate Engineering programs in the nation that don’t offer doctorate degrees, 91st.

The rankings of public affairs programs, published in 2021, are based solely on peer assessment survey results. In fall 2020 and early 2021, U.S. News surveyed deans, directors and department chairs representing 285 master’s programs in public affairs and administration.

The best health schools’ rankings are based solely on the results of peer assessment surveys sent to deans, other administrators or faculty at accredited degree programs or schools in each discipline. Those surveyed were: 188 public health schools and programs accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The accrediting body supplied U.S. News with the lists of accredited public health schools and programs and most of the names of the respondents who were surveyed.

The part-time MBA rankings are based on five factors. 1. Average peer assessment score. 2. Average GMAT score and average GRE quantitative, verbal and analytical writing scores of part-time MBA students entering in fall 2020. 3. Average undergraduate GPA of part-time MBA students entering in fall 2020. 4. Number of years of work experience of part-time MBA students entering in fall 2020 – with more years of work experience scoring higher in the rankings. 5. Percentage of the business school’s fall 2020 total full-time and part-time MBA enrollment that is in the part-time MBA program, with a higher percentage of MBA students being part-time scoring higher in the rankings.
