Star Wildes, CSUSB alumna and staff member, and Brian Willes, fellow CSUSB staff member, share the importance of celebrating Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month with the campus community.
The opening of the Asian Pacific Islander Center in the Santos Manuel Student Union provides a welcoming and inclusive environment dedicated to promoting the diversity and appreciation of the Asian and Pacific Islander cultures.
There are many opportunities and resources available for student leadership and development, building a stronger sense of community and cultural competencies at CSUSB.
CSUSB is celebrating Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month in April and May with a number of virtual events honoring the accomplishments, contributions and culture of Asian and Pacific Islander communities under the theme “Not Your Model Minority, Creating Waves of Change.”
Nationally, Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month is celebrated during the month of May, but since CSUSB has a short month in May with finals and commencement, the university started celebrations in April.
