Professor Emerita Shanthi Srinivas has been appointed as the interim dean of Cal State San Bernardino’s Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration.
“We are delighted that Professor Emerita Shanthi Srinivas has agreed to serve as interim dean,” said Shari McMahan, provost and vice president for the Division of Academic Affairs. “Her vast experience and leadership will be invaluable to JHBC and the campus community during this yearlong transition period.”
Srinivas fills the position previously held by Lawrence C. Rose, who served as dean of the college for the past 10 years. Rose retired July 30, capping a 36-year career in higher education. A national search for a permanent dean starts this fall.

Brown College,” said Srinivas, who retired from Cal Poly Pomona in 2016 as associate vice president for academic planning, policy and faculty affairs. “The JHBC is a dynamic place with world-class faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry partners. I look forward to continuing our impact, innovation and engagement both within the university and the community, working closely with our talented team.”
Srinivas has more than 30 years of higher education experience having held a variety of administrative and faculty positions at Cal Poly Pomona, most recently as the university’s presidential fellow for Leadership Excellence for Institutional Development and the state chair for the Southern California region of the American Council on Education Women’s Network.
She joins JHBC with experience in leadership training, faculty development, budget management, enrollment management, strategic planning and assessment. During her career, she was also instrumental in successfully leading numerous initiatives involving diversity, technology in education and accreditation of the university and business college.
She is the recipient of numerous teaching awards at the undergraduate and MBA level during her tenure as a faculty member. Her extensive research and publications are in the areas of job commitment, stress, employee performance and satisfaction, gender diversity and more recently, in sustainability.
Her community involvement and volunteer work include serving on human relations and accreditation committees of local public schools, being a keynote speaker and providing training to various state agencies. She has offered numerous workshops in the area of management including performance management, strategy, leadership and team building to academic audiences as well as to executives in the U.S. and overseas.
Srinivas earned her doctorate in business administration from The Pennsylvania State University and her master’s degree in social work and bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Madras.
