The Association of Latino Faculty, Staff and Students (ALFSS) at Cal State San Bernardino will host the annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) event on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the university’s Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art (RAFFMA).
Registration is required and can be done at the 2021 ALFSS Día de los Muertos RSVP webpage.
“Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is an annual ALFSS event to bring the campus and community together to celebrate their culture and enjoy entertainment, food and activities,” the ALFSS website says.
The event will include ofrendas (offerings) by student organizations and vendors, as well as performances by Ballet Folklorico Cultural and Jarabe Mexicano.
In addition, RAFFMA will hold a live auction of calaveras, or skulls, which were decorated by CSUSB community members. The museum’s online exhibition “Festival de Calaveras” can be viewed on the RAFFMA website. The auction will help raise funds for student scholarships.
The Día de los Muertos schedule of events include:
- Mariachi kick-off and ALFSS welcome: 11:15 a.m.
- Ballet Folklorico Cultural Performance: Noon
- Calavera Auction: 1:30 p.m.
- Live Band Jarabe Mexicano: 2:30 p.m.
Free parking will be located in Lot L.
