McDougall joined CSUSB in 1991 as an assistant professor in the psychology department, earning tenure in 1995. He was a consummate educator, dedicated to his students, the department and his research. Most recently, he served as the program director of the Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (U-RISE), which is aimed at increasing the diversity of students earning their bachelor’s degrees and moving on to complete research-focused, biomedical advanced degrees.
McDougall is survived by his spouse, CSUSB psychology professor Cynthia Crawford and their family.
