How hydrogen could be part of the solution for abundant, cleaner air alternatives to fossil fuels will be the topic of the August Regional Mobility Dialogue Series of the Leonard Transportation Center at Cal State San Bernardino.

The free dialogue, “Hydrogen and Clean Air Technologies: Preparing for the Future,” is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 8-10 a.m. and will take place virtually. Online registration is required; link to the videoconference will be provided upon registration. Attendance is limited to the first 50 registrants, and pre-registration is required. The presentation is the fourth of six new dialogues for 2022 on topics relevant to the future of transportation in the Inland Empire. The series is open to the public with platinum level sponsorship from HNTB Corp., the San Bernardino International Airport and Ontario International Airport.

With the current emphasis on new cleaner energy technologies, the transportation sector is on the verge of major transformation. Although hydrogen has been known as a fuel source since the 17th century, recent advancements in hydrogen technology offer promising solutions to air pollution and the adverse impacts on climate generated by the use of fossil fuels in the transport sector. Not all hydrogen is equal, but this fuel source can provide a cleaner, more secure and potentially more affordable approach to energy intensive transportation endeavors, such as long-haul trucking, public transit bus fleets, and even passenger vehicles.

Through this dialogue, experts will discuss how hydrogen can be part of the solution for cleaner air and a more sustainable fuel source for tomorrow.

Following the presentations, attendees will engage in a discussion with an opportunity to share concerns and ideas with panelists, transportation professionals, policy makers, students and each other.

As part of CSUSB, the Leonard Transportation Center brings people together to provide the facts, discuss the major issues, and work to resolve them.
