Show host Lillian Vasquez speaks with Enrique Murillo, professor with the College of Education at Cal State San Bernardino and the executive director of LEAD, Latino Education & Advocacy Days. The purpose of LEAD is to promote awareness of the crisis in Latino Education and enhance personal development within their community. Murillo talks about the LEAD Summit on Sept.30 at CSUSB, a conference celebrating 50 years of challenges, accomplishments, and the continuing quest for educational equity.

The discussion was conducted in Spanish.

Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino, was interviewed for an article about the extremist group the Oath Keepers, which began in Nevada.
It made sense to form the Oath Keepers here, said Levin. “Nevada is a place that has always catered to individualism,” he said.
This was the last article reported by Jeff German before he was killed earlier this month. His colleague has finished his reporting.

Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino, was interviewed for an article about prosecutors gearing up for one of the biggest Capitol riot trials yet as nine members of the right-wing extremist Oath Keepers group are set to go before a jury next week on seditious conspiracy charges tied to an alleged plan to oppose by force the transfer of presidential power on Jan. 6, 2021.
A seditious conspiracy charge carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison and it requires prosecutors to prove to the jury that an actual agreement existed between each of the accused Oath Keepers.
“Not just any agreement,” according to extremism expert Levin, “but one aimed at attacking the U.S. government to overthrow it.”
Rhodes’ alleged co-conspirators set to stand trial alongside him in the Washington federal courthouse are Thomas Caldwell, 68; Joseph Hackett, 50; Kelly Meggs, 53; David Moerschel, 43; Roberto Minuta, 37; Kenneth Harrelson, 41, Edward Vallejo, 63 and Jessica Watkins, 40.
“[They] have greater criminal exposure because of the alleged agreement and plan from the leader of a national group on down to participate, allegedly acting as a larger cohesive unit,” Levin said.
But actual participation in the purported plan varied on Jan. 6, according to Levin.
