Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino, was quoted in an essay by Eyal Press that examined the role that mental illness may play in racially motivated violence.
Levin has proposed creating a separate classification for offenders with mental illness, as a way of signaling that their cases are different. Doing so would have one immediate practical benefit, Mr. Levin said. “It would get these offenders treatment as opposed to putting them into a system of incarceration,” he said.
Spirit of Entrepreneur Awards to mark 20th anniversary

Tickets are on sale for the 2022 Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards, scheduled to be held Nov.17 at the Riverside Convention Center. The black-tie event, sponsored by the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship at Cal State San Bernardino, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
“The Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards has reached an incredible milestone, and we hope that everyone comes out to join the celebration,” said Mike Stull, director of the entrepreneurship center and founder-producer of the spirit awards, in the statement. “Our last full-scale event prior to the pandemic had over 1,000 attendees, so we’d love to see a record turnout in 2022.”
