Aimed at raising awareness of resources available for people battling substance use disorder, the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health will have a table on Coyote Walkway near the John M. Pfau Library for people to receive training on how to administer Narcan, which can reverse an overdose from opioids.
The Narcan training and distribution will take place from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9. In addition to training, those stopping by will receive two doses of Narcan for free.
In addition, learn more about substance use disorders, available recovery resources (whether you have insurance, regardless of immigration status, for you or for a loved one), treatment options, and what to do in an overdose emergency by attending a presentation by the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health, noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the CSUSB Anthropology Museum.
The museum, located in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences building, room SB-306, is currently showing INTO LIGHT, an exhibition that aims to change the conversation about addiction and overdose.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, 136 people die each day from an opioid overdose in the United States, making programs like the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health and the INTO LIGHT exhibit essential in the conversation about substance abuse disorder.
The Anthropology Museum is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free.
