Colton residents concerned over poor water quality

Kimberly Cousins, chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University, San Bernardino, was quoted in a segment about water quality issues in Colton. She says testing for water safety is a must.  “It is impossible to tell whether water is safe just from the color. The most frequent brown/orange coloring is iron, (non-toxic), but testing must be done to be sure,” she said.  

Two CSUSB programs will move to Riverside

Two programs within the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship at Cal State San Bernardino are relocating to Riverside. The Inland Empire Small Business Development Center and the Inland Empire Women’s Business Center are both moving to the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce office building this month.

“The Small Business Development Center and Women’s Business Centers along with the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce all provide incredible support to local small businesses in the community. We are excited to expand this support to even more entrepreneurs through this unique partnership in our new location at the Chamber,” said Mike Stull, director of the IECE and the CSUSB School of Entrepreneurship.

Leslie Amodeo (psychology) was a co-author in a recently published study that examined alcohol-induced insomnia; sleep difficulties and rhythm disturbances are some of the problems associated with adolescent binge drinking. The research team sought to develop and test a Fitbit-like device (the “FitBite”) in rats and use it to track rest-activity cycles following adolescent alcohol exposure.
