Cal State San Bernardino has once again been named a top university by Washington Monthly in its 2023 College Guide and Rankings. Washington Monthly has listed CSUSB at No. 12 in the West in the Best Bang for the Buck category and No. 29 in its National University Rankings.

For its National University Rankings, Washington Monthly ranked four-year schools based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research and providing opportunities for public service.

In its Best Bang for the Buck category, which is organized by five regions (Northeast, Southeast, South, Midwest and West), Washington Monthly’s list of schools is ranked according to how well they help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. According to its website, the list is created by isolating the social mobility metrics from the main rankings of four-year institutions.
