Naja Faysal, an international student from Lebanon, stepped into a new chapter of his professional journey when he enrolled in the master of science in information systems technology graduate program, specializing in data analytics and business intelligence. His educational pursuit at Cal State San Bernardino has not only expanded his knowledge but also sparked a game-changing entrepreneurial initiative and company, Parrots Lab LLC.
Faysal harnesses the power of generative artificial intelligence to devise tailored business solutions at Parrots Lab, LLC. His vision extends beyond mere AI integration; he believes in replacing conventional websites with AI chatbots that encapsulate a company's essence, responding in line with its branding. Beyond AI integration, Parrots Lab LLC offers diverse services, from podcast setup to CRM implementation and expert advice on marketing and advertising.
Coming from a family deeply rooted in education instilled in Faysal a profound appreciation for learning.
"Both of my parents are educators, and they own a private school in Lebanon," he said, reflecting on the unwavering support they continue to provide as he pursues his educational and professional endeavors.
With 15 years of experience in marketing, advertising and business leadership, Faysal's professional trajectory took a significant turn during his tenure as general manager at the Ethos Marketing Agency in Riyadh. During this period, he became aware of the crucial role that data and analytics plays in business. He embarked on a quest for deeper knowledge and practical insights into the transformative power of data. He charted a course for the United States, selecting CSUSB due to its information systems technology program and his own familial connections in California.
During his academic tenure, Faysal has been profoundly impacted by several esteemed professors, each leaving an indelible mark on his journey. Ying Cheng's Advanced Managerial Communications course remains an integral part of his professional repertoire.
"I use her course material all the time in everyday work," Faysal said.
Similarly, Essia Hamouda's course in information and decision sciences broadened Faysal's intellectual horizons, and he refers to her as one of the finest professors in her field. And then there was Oluwatosin Ogundare, Faysal’s student advisor, who has provided personal and professional guidance. After talking with Ogundare, Faysal has always felt like he could “conquer the world.”
Faysal's pivot towards the AI realm was catalyzed by a moment of disbelief-turned-fascination when he stumbled upon the emergence of OpenAI and ChatGPT in an online tech magazine. It inspired him to delve into the uncharted territory of AI for his thesis — probing the effectiveness of substituting traditional corporate websites with AI-driven chatbots. This research laid the foundation for his brainchild, Parrots Lab, LLC.
For Faysal, CSUSB has been more than an academic institution, it has been a sanctuary that has nurtured his educational journey and facilitated his integration into a foreign country.
"It can be challenging to build connections in a new country," he said, lauding the institution's support that has helped him to forge meaningful relationships with classmates and professors.
Faysal's journey is a testament to the fusion of traditional values, a relentless pursuit of knowledge and an unyielding dedication to transforming businesses through AI innovation. As he navigates uncharted entrepreneurial waters, Faysal stands as an inspiration, showcasing the potential of merging tradition with technology in the ever-evolving landscape of business.
