Andrea Hinwood, chief scientist of the United Nations Environment Program, will give a virtual talk on the changes in the global environment, connections with the environment and solutions on Thursday, May 9. The presentation, “Addressing climate change, nature loss and pollution to improve environmental health,” will take place on Zoom at 9 a.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required; RSVP online.

Mahmood Nikbakhtzadeh, assistant professor of environmental health science in the Department of Health Science and Human Ecology, invited Hinwood and coordinated the virtual talk, which is sponsored by CSUSB’s Intellectual Life Fund.

An environmental scientist, specializing in environmental exposures and the impacts on human health, Hinwood earned her Ph.D. in environmental epidemiology from Monash University. She served as the first chief environmental scientist at the Environment Protection Authority in Victoria, Australia and was an associate professor at Edith Cowan University.
