The Laveryn Grace Schulz Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for four dedicated students to pursue their journalistic aspirations with a $7,000 award. The fellowship focuses on investigative and/or community journalism in the Inland Empire and is renewable through a competitive annual application process.

Applications for academic year 2024-25 are being accepted now. The deadline is Sept. 15.

Eligible candidates must be currently enrolled in the MA in English and writing studies program or MA in communication studies program. Both programs are offered by the College of Arts and Letters.

The 2024-25 enrollment deadline for the MA in English and writing studies program has passed, however, there is still an opportunity to enroll in the MA in communication studies program. May 25 is the deadline.

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and show a passion for journalism, community-oriented journalism and investigative journalism. Preference will be given to students with a feasible project plan in community or investigative journalism within the Inland Empire, those engaged in or planning to enroll in journalism classes with CSUSB faculty members, first-generation and/or socioeconomically marginalized students, and students from San Bernardino/Riverside counties.
