The Standup for Science event on March 7 highlighted the critical role of the field and the impact of science funding on research, student success and social mobility. The campus community gathered in front of the Biological Sciences building from noon to 1 p.m. to celebrate the importance of scientific research. The event was hosted by the Department of Biology and student club SSPACE (Scientists Supporting People Advocating for Community Equity).
At the event, attendees enjoyed donuts, received half a dozen eggs, and made eye-catching posters that emphasized why science matters, detailing how funding supports discoveries, fosters student achievement and drives innovation across various fields.
The College of Natural Sciences (CNS) is making significant strides in research, having received over $120 million in open grant awards. In 2024-25, the college has secured more than $20 million in funding, which is essential for advancing scientific knowledge and supporting student growth.
CNS is committed to advancing innovation, fostering student success and driving positive change through continued support of scientific exploration and discovery.
