The 10th annual Korean Festival immersed attendees in Korean culture through food, traditional music and dance, and art. Hosted by the Department of World Languages and Literatures, the festival is a signature event of CSUSB’s Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Heritage Month celebration, attracting over 350 students, faculty, staff and community members to the engaging cultural experience.
The day began with a hands-on kimchi-making workshop, where participants learned to prepare Korea’s iconic fermented dish using traditional ingredients, such as napa cabbage, radish, garlic and red pepper powder. The interactive session gave attendees a deeper appreciation for Korean culinary traditions and allowed them to take home their handmade kimchi.
An evening reception followed, featuring a traditional hansik meal that included bap (rice), banchan (side dishes), and Korean beverages and desserts.
The Korean Festival, held on April 18, concluded with a dynamic showcase of Korean art, traditional music and dance, and K-pop cover performances. The festival not only celebrated the richness of Korean culture but also fostered connection and learning within the diverse CSUSB community.
