Cal State San Bernardino has launched Civility in Action, a university-wide initiative dedicated to fostering civility, mutual respect and inclusiveness across campus. Building on the success of the 2024-25 Civility Campaign, Civility in Action will offer programs, resources and educational opportunities designed to promote respectful dialogue, prevent conflict, and strengthen community engagement. Through workshops, events and outreach, the initiative will empower students, faculty, staff and administrators to contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment where every voice is valued.

The first event, a CivilTEA Café, will take place on Thursday, Sept. 18, from noon-1 p.m., and will feature an expert-led session that sparks fresh ideas, encourages real conversations, and creates meaningful connections. Additional cafés and workshops will be held quarterly throughout the academic year, culminating in a closing event in April 2026.

Event organizers emphasized that CSUSB is deeply committed to creating an environment that supports working, learning and living together with civility and mutual respect. They noted that by upholding civility, the campus fosters a culture rooted in understanding, inclusiveness and appreciation for the diverse experiences and perspectives of all members of the university community.

Civility in Action directly supports Goal #2 of the CSUSB Strategic Plan, which emphasizes cultivating a culture of trust, respect and civility across the university.
