Six students from Cal State San Bernardino’s Experiential Computing and Engaged Learning Scholarships (ExCELS) program attended the 2025 S-STEM Scholars Meeting in San Diego, joining more than 1,200 scholars nationwide for workshops, research presentations, and networking opportunities in STEM.
Yan Zhang, associate professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, is the recipient of Cal State San Bernardino’s 2024-25 Outstanding Service Award for her extensive, sustained service to students, the university and the broader academic and professional community.
The National Science Foundation awarded the grant to the university’s School of Computer Science and Engineering, which will use it to provide scholarships, mentorships and experiential learning opportunities for low-income and underrepresented students, and to meet a growing need for talented computer professionals in the region.
