
Veteran administrator Matthew Smith, a graduate of CSUSB, has been named Cal State San Bernardino’s new dean of students and associate vice president for Student Affairs.

Through internships, volunteer opportunities, and real-world training across disciplines, RAFFMA offers students hands-on experience in curatorial research, exhibition design, education and community engagement.

Open to all STEM students, the full-day event is designed to introduce attendees to the people, programs and resources that will support their academic and professional journey at CSUSB.

Cal State San Bernardino welcomed its newest international students at the iCoyote 101 International Student Orientation, an event designed to support their transition to campus life and living in the U.S.

Muñoz, assistant dean of Student Success for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and interim chair of the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, began his term on Sept. 1.

“We are all together here in a very, very special place. We have a vital mission. And we punch well above our weight,” university President Tomás D. Morales said. “Each of you is making a real difference.”

Coyote Jumpstart will support incoming first-year and transfer students with personalized outreach and guidance through key enrollment steps to help ensure a smooth transition to CSUSB. The program is part of CSUSB’s MELT Prevention initiative, which aims to reduce “summer melt,” a national trend where admitted students do not enroll in college due to preventable barriers.

All 23 California State University campuses were rated four stars or higher in Money.com’s 2025 list of the Best Colleges in America, with 15 campuses landing in the top 10 percent of colleges nationwide. Among them, CSUSB emerged as a five-star standout — one of only nine CSU campuses to receive Money’s highest distinction.

Driven by the power of student advocacy, CSUSB student Carson Fajardo turned inspiration into action, running for ASI president and leading initiatives that have empowered thousands of Coyotes across campus and beyond. He graduates this weekend with a bachelor of arts degree in administration.
