CSUSB alumnus Michael Griggs’ story is one of adversity and triumph. Formerly incarcerated, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and now guides other formerly incarcerated students on their academic journeys.
Ahlam Muhtaseb, professor of media studies, is the recipient of this prestigious National Communication Association award. According to Amy Aldridge Sanford, a member of the awards committee, “We consider the Scholarly Influence Award one for career achievement. Stuart Sumida (biology) served as a consultant on a new TV series, “Jane,” Angie Otiniano Verissimo (health science and human ecology) is one of the moderators for a program with activist Angela Davis, and Leslie Amodeo (psychology) led a team of researchers from CSUSB that examined one of two core symptoms associated with autism spectrum disorder.
