In being named to Excelencia’s Baccalaureate Level category for its 2024 Examples of Excelencia recognition, Upward Bound was recognized as one of the programs that demonstrated an intentional and aligned approach in supporting Latino and other post-traditional students academically, financially and socially.
CSUSB alumna Leticia Herrera ’19, ’22, a passionate advocate for immigrant rights and educational equity, was honored to have her graduation cap and stole featured in the Molina Family Latino Gallery’s inaugural exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.
CSUSB’s Outstanding Professional Academic Advisor Award is presented to academic advisors who have demonstrated exceptional advising qualities through their dedication and commitment to students. The first-ever recipients of this award are Arturo Gutierrez from the ASUA Academic Advising office and Paola Godinez Martinez from the Undocumented Student Success Center.

President Tomás D. Morales donated a beaded calavera (skull), made by art student Valeria Vargas, to the CSUSB Undocumented Student Success Center, which he purchased during a Día de los Muertos celebration and auction last November.
Jairo Leon, the first director named for CSUSB’s Undocumented Student Success Center, plans to advocate, create and build on the programs and services available to undocumented students.
