Armando Barragán, associate professor in the School of Social Work, specializes in Latino mental health and has co-written a number of publications on the subject, such as “Protective and risk factors associated with comorbid health problems and psychological distress in Latino subgroups,” “Psychological distress behavioral patterns among Latinos: We don’t see ourselves as worthless,” and “Serving Latino families caring for a person with serious mental illness.”
His other research interests include serious mental illnesses, treatment utilization and help-seeking, ethnic minority mental health disparities, and psychiatric epidemiology.
Barragán received his Ph.D. in social work from the University of Southern California; his MSW from the University of California, Berkeley; and his bachelor’s in psychology and anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
