Rajrani Kalra, professor of geography, loves to explore the world, its people, and understand urban, economic and human geography.
Rajrani Kalra, professor of geography, started working at CSUSB in 2008. Her research and teaching interests include urban and economic geography, globalization, spatial analysis and thinking, geography of tourism, and South Asia (focusing on India).
She has written and co-written a number of book chapters and peer review journal articles including “Development patterns in India: Spatial convergence or divergence?” and “Studies in Tourism Geography of India: Definition, Approaches and Prospects.”
Kalra has presented her research at more than 50 international and national geography conferences. From 2016-17, she was the president of International Phi Beta Delta, an international honors society. She was also a visiting research fellow in the Department of Geography at the University of Otago, New Zealand in summer 2018 and a visiting professor in Harbin, China in summer 2019.
Kalra received her Ph.D. from Kent State University, Ohio; MA from the University of Akron, Ohio; M.Phil. from the University of Delhi, India; B.Ed. from the Central Institute of Education, University of Delhi, India; MA from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, India; and BA from Miranda House, University of Delhi, India, all in geography.
