Cal State San Bernardino will be the site of the 2019 Inland Empire Disabilities Conference on Thursday, March 28. The event, “To Serve Me, You Must Know Me,” presented by the Inland Empire Disabilities Collaborative, will take place at the university’s Yasuda Center beginning at 9 a.m. CSUSB’s College of Education, its Rehabilitation Counseling Program, the Ability Sports & Education Festival (formerly the DisAbility Sports Festival), as well as CSUSB Parking and Transportation Services, are helping to sponsor the conference. The free conference will provide training to 150 professionals who advocate for and provide services to approximately 450,000 seniors and persons with disabilities who live in the Inland Empire counties of San Bernardino and Riverside. According to the event page, “The IEDC's goal is to bring together bright minds to give talks that are idea-focused on a wide range of subjects specific to the disability and senior communities, to foster learning, inspiration, wonder and provoke conversations that matter.” The Inland Empire Disabilities Cooperative, led by the Inland Empire Health Plan and Loma Linda University PossAbilities, was launched in 2006 as a networking tool, and it brings together more than 900 service providers from regional organizations that serve people with disabilities and seniors. To register online for the free conference, go to the 2019 IEDC Conference – To Serve Me, You Must Know Me webpage on Eventbrite. Also visit the Inland Empire Disabilities Cooperative website to learn more about its programs.
