While Cal State San Bernardino was closed Jan. 21 in observance of a state holiday commemorating the late civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr., the university’s Coussoulis Arena was the site of the Inland Empire Concerned African American Churches’ 39th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast. Several hundred attended the event, which this year was titled “Living … Legacy … Legend.” The breakfast is held annually to remember the legacy of King, who was killed by an assassin’s bullet on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tenn., and was a pivotal figure in the Civil Rights movement.
